First off, wow.  Second, thank you, to all of you who still drop my page despite slightly sub-par fractals and a lack of them in the first place.

Well, I have been busy with college and have kind of gravitated towards photography in the art world.  Those of you who have seen my other account, ~Echo-Velocity, know that I am into photography as well as other 3D art and some other things.  I've been trying to get noticed there, but without much time it is proving difficult.  Hopefully that will pick up when I finally get around to purchasing a Nikon D40 and start taking some better photos.  Of course, I'll have more on that decision later on.

Besides my lack of artwork lately, everything seems to be going pretty well.  Classes are hard at college, but the clubs are great.  I'm with the sports car club, the Crimson Newspaper, and most importantly our school's Formula SAE Team - and we finally got the 2 1/2 year old car to run!

I must say that this flurry of new Apo-stuff is almost like Christmas when I have days off and I finally discovered the joys of both the 3D hack and the plug-ins (credit to ~Kaeltyk of course - with more to come on that).

Anyway, time to go comment on your artworks, hope you're all doing good!

-Phoenix

Hey, keep an eye out for nikon cash-back promotions, there's one on at the moment :D

A who-what?

Any cash back would be a godsend, especially since the lens I wanted is $250! :faint:

You buy the camera at, say $500, and you get a voucher for $50 cashback which you claim back from Nikon

I know this is the D40X, but see here for an example [link]

Cool, but I wonder if it a U.K. only thing, especially since I have not seen that over here. Of course, I wonder if that is included in the $499 price I'm going to pay, since the Nikon site (along with others) says it costs $549.

I'm pretty sure that the major manufacturers offer cashback deals worldwide, but at different times in different parts of the world. You can see why us Brits like coming to America to shop: I'd have to pay £459 after cashback for a camera I could buy in the States for $479 + tax. Call it $530 - without cashback - which is about £265 at the current exchange rate!

Check out Calumet USA & B&H for good prices [link] and [link]

Also, because the D40 has been a tad eclipsed by the D40X, it's more than likely that the Calumet outlet stores (I bet they have one on eBay USA) as well as others will be selling them at significantly reduced prices in the not-too-distant future.

Yeah, gotta love the almighty dollar falling like a brick to the Euro and especially the Pound.

I looked at the D40x, but to be honest, it doesn't take better pictures from what I have seen. Yes, it does probably do better big prints, but the D40 offers more than enough for me.
